The Storm

We all wanted to go visit our new friend Sally.

So, one day we asked our daddy if we go.

It was a nice sunny day, and Sally only lived down the street

from our house. Daddy said "OK, but be home before dark".

So, we started out and arrived at Sally's house.

We played in her back yard; Sally's mommy even made us a picnic lunch.

We had hot dogs, cookies and Kool-Aid.

Sally had a small swimming pool in her back yard, so we all played in the water,

and had lots of fun.

We went back in the house and played some more,

watched some cartoons on TV, and played Twister for a while.

After all that fun, we were kinda tired.

Sally said "You can take a nap right here, and I will wake

you up to go home before it gets dark".

"OK" we said, and we laid down on the cool kitchen floor.

In no time we were all asleep.

"GET UP, GET UP" shouted Sally. "What's wrong?" we asked.

"I fell asleep too, and now it is getting dark outside".

"You better get going, the TV said there is a storm coming".

We called out daddy and told him we were leaving

Sally's house and we would be home in 5 minutes.

Out the door we went, just then the sky got real dark,

and it was thundering and lightning real bad.

The rain started to come down real heavy, and we were scared.

There was this flash of lightning and all the streetlights and house lights went out.

"Now what are we going to do?" said Murphy.

Dulley said "Don't worry, I will protect you."

"YEA RIGHT, you are the biggest scardy dog we know." said Pooie.

We were not only scared, but lost as well.

With no streetlights we couldn't tell where we were.

"We need a plan, and the first thing we got to do is find some shelter." said Pooie.

We saw a garage with the door open, so we ran real fast into the garage.

"OK, now what?" said Jerry Lee. "We got to let daddy know where we are,

and that we are OK" said Dulley. "Just how do you plan on doing that?" asked Pooie.

"We could call him". "NO we can't, the storm knocked out the electricity

and the phones won't work." "A cell phone would work," said Dulley.

"YEA, if we only had one" said Sheba. "I got one," said Dulley.

"Daddy always said to take it when we leave the house in case of emergencies."

So, we called Daddy and told him we were all right,

and were waiting in a garage with the door open near this

really big tree. Daddy knew just where we were; there was

only one really big tree in our neighborhood. Dulley saved us all,

and taught all of us the importance of letting someone

know where you are all the time.

It doesn`t hurt to have a cell phone handy either, in case of an emergency. Like this one.
