The Pirates

One day our Daddy asked us if we wanted to go on a vacation

because we had been so good. YES, YES, YES we all said.

So Daddy made some phone calls and booked us all on a cruise

to the Bahamas onboard this old sailing ship.

We took a jet plane from our house to Miami, Florida

where we met our ship. We were the only passengers plus the crew.

We then set sail for our much needed vacation.

We all had jobs to do while underway. Jerry Lee's job was to swab the deck each morning,

Dulley had to polish all the brass hardware & Pooie did all the cooking

(we all helped Pooie after our jobs were done),

and Daddy made all our beds and cleaned up our rooms.

We all had different rooms with TV's in them so we could watch

our favorite programs at night.

We ate real good too. Pooie made breakfast with eggs, bacon, toast & pancakes.

We all helped make lunch, usually ham and cheese sandwiches and potato chips.

Dinner was our special meal, and we all helped with that too.

We had steaks, mash potatoes and gravy, a vegetable and a salad.

We all had to do the dishes after each meal.

At night we either played games or watched TV.

Our favorite game was Monopoly and our favorite TV show was "The Animal Planet".

Everything was going just great, but on the third day

of our vacation we woke up to a loud bang, and the ship shuttered,

come to find out the ship was surrounded by all these PIRATES.

Talk about being scared, where did they come from?, what did they want?

Daddy told us not to be scared and go hide under our beds until he came back.

So we all went and hid under Jerry Lee's bed ('cause it was the biggest) and waited.

After about an hour when our Daddy didn't come back,

we sneeked out to see what was up.

There was nobody onboard the ship - everyone was gone!

The ship had been busted up by the PIRATES, and was almost sinking.

We decided that we had better get into the lifeboats real fast.

We loaded a lot of food, and some medical supplies then climbed

into one lifeboat and paddled away from the ship.

The ship didn't sink, but it sure looked like it was going to any minute.

We saw this deserted island off in the distance

and started to paddle toward it. We reached shore in about 45 minutes.

After we secured our lifeboat we went looking around, and guess what?

Just beyond these trees we saw our Daddy and the

crew from the ship with all these PIRATES.

Everyone seemed to be alright. We could hear them talking,

they were asking our Daddy all kinds of questions.

What are you doing out here? Where did you come from?

Where were you going?, questions like that.

Our Daddy explained that he was on vacation. He didn't tell the PIRATES about us yet.

After he had answered all their questions, our Daddy

asked them why they had taken us. Well, come to find out most

of their crew had become sick from eating some bad food,

 and they needed some help.

A couple of the men who got sick were the ones responsible

for steering their ship, and nobody else knew how to steer the boat

(that is why they crashed into our ship)

and another one was responsible for cooking the food for all of them,

and all their food was spoiled. Our Daddy said if they helped

repair our ship we would help them. When we saw that the PIRATES

were not going to hurt our Daddy, we ran out from the trees

and surprised our Daddy. He was so glad to see us, he gave all of us a great big hug.

The PIRATES wanted to know who we were. Daddy

said these are my kids from the ship, and they will cook some

really good food for you. We told Daddy that we had

rowed here in a lifeboat and brought food and medical supplies with us.

After everyone had a good meal, and the sick PIRATES

got some medicine, our Captain took their ship and towed

our ship back to shore where the PIRATES fixed it up for us.

We stayed with them for a couple of days until all the PIRATES got better.

We told them that we had to continue on with our vacation,

so we gave them some extra food and medicine.

Just before we left we asked the PIRATES how come

they just didn't ASK US for help.

They told us that they had been PIRATES for so long they

didn't know how to just ask, they always just took what they needed.

We told them to QUIT that, because the world needs more nice people.

They said they would try real hard to be NICE PIRATES from now on.
